Long scarves are very versitile, many can be worn as a shawl, draped over your shoulders, or secured with a brooch. A long scarf can also be worn as a belt, a pareo over a skirt or jeans, or around your head as a headband or head cover.

Belt Sash

1. Fold a long (oblong) scarf like an accordion.

2. Wrap it around your waist and use a simple knot to secure it in the middle.

Or , put it through your belt loops as shown. This is a great way to add sass to any pair of trousers!

 


Hat Sash

Tie any oblong scarf around a hat in a simple knot, a bow, or secure with a pin.
You can change the look of a hat in a minute, and coordinate it to your outfit!


Italian Loop

1. Fold a long (oblong) scarf into a smaller oblong. You can fold it like an accordion, or simply fold it in half lengthwise several times until it is the desired width.

2. Fold your oblong in half, ends to ends, creating a loop.

3. Place this folded oblong behind your neck and bring the looped end and the loose ends to the front.

4. Take the two loose ends and pull them through the loop.

5. Pull the ends until the scarf fits as snugly around your neck as you like

3. Adjust and fluff the front so that lies in a gentle fold.

 


Jeweled Oblong

1. Fold a long scarf like an accordion. If it’s very long, fold it in half to shorten it first.

2. Wrap it around your neck and use a brooch to secure it on one side.

3. fan out the accordion folds.

This works well with a a small square scarf as well.


Large Tie

1. Fold a long scarf in half lengthwise until desired width is achieved.

2. Place around your neck with the ends in front, one end shorter than the other.

3. Wrap the long end once around the short end and then pull the long end through the top of the loop.

4. Adjust the tie to make it high or low.

This is a pretty way to dress up business attire or, with a more casual scarf, a great way to add whimsy to a weekend outfit.

This look can also be made with a square scarf folded on the bias.

4. Adjust the ring to make the scarf longer or shorter.
